MODICA Prize
An international award dedicated to excellence in essay writing and intellectual contribution, presented annually on April 23 — World Book and Copyright Day. Conceived as a natural extension of the spirit of MODICA Talks, the prize celebrates authors, scholars, scientists, philosophers, historians and public intellectuals whose works enrich contemporary cultural and intellectual life through originality, depth and critical insight.
The MODICA Prize recognizes essays and non-fiction works that engage meaningfully with the major questions of our time, fostering dialogue between disciplines such as literature, philosophy, history, science, politics, culture and society. Particular attention is given to works capable of making complex ideas accessible to a wider public while maintaining high intellectual and scholarly standards.
More than a literary award, the MODICA Prize aims to promote the value of knowledge, independent thought and international cultural exchange. By honoring voices that contribute to public reflection and human understanding, the prize seeks to encourage a global culture of dialogue, education and critical inquiry.
Presented each year in connection with World Book and Copyright Day, the MODICA Prize underlines the enduring importance of books, ideas and intellectual freedom as essential foundations of democratic and cultural life.
